We're Pulling a Capcom - What that Means, and Why

Things have been... well, stressful. After some behind the scenes talks, it has been decided that we're badly in need of a restructuring. An HD re-release or a disc-based update, if you will.

How Things Are Changing

For the forseeable future, we will be scheduling posts only twice a week, once each. The final schedule for that is something we're still working on, and if a topic hits us out of the blue, we'll be able to post more, instead of trying to wait until our scheduled day, and losing our entire stream of thought. This should free up some time for us to actually play some games, and thus complete more reviews, though I wouldn't expect the editorial-syled content to just go away any time soon. Becoming slightly more review oriented is something we've been planning for months, but it just wasn't working out that way under the previous schedule.

It also gives us an opportune time to branch into some other areas, possibly including Let's Plays, video reviews, and more in the future, but this is something that will take time, and is still something we're working on figuring out. This will also free up some time for recording and editing, and it means the oft-delayed podcast might finally see the light of day(or so we hope).

Lastly, we're really bad at self-promotion. Our scarcely updated twitter and facebook pages are a living testament to that. There's a slight possibility of us bringing on someone behind the scenes to handle that for us, but it's more likely we'll just use some of the extra time we're not wracking our brains for a topic to make those posts.

What This Means for Our Readers

During this transition, things will be a bit out of place as we attempt to figure out what works best for us. That having been said, I'd still expect the same quality(if not better) from our posts, and some exciting new ventures in terms of the content we produce. However, this is just an outline as to where we're looking to bring things, and results may vary wildly in the interim. There might be some experimental changes to the format of the page, and how things are organized, and there's also a strong possibility that we'll be looking for feedback during this time.

Once we're more confident in where we stand, and how we're going to handle things, we'll let you know. It might take a few weeks, or even months, but we're nowhere near done calling out issues as we see them, and this reboot should in no way affect that.

Why

To quote Latency, "Too much passion, not enough hours." It's been a near miracle we've been able to stay as on top of things as we have lately, though there's been the running issue of too much editorial content, not enough reviews.

As the weeks have stretched on, it has become harder and harder to find a topic to cover that we have not previously touched on, causing us to miss deadlines, and spend roughly twice the amount of time we have on older posts, if not longer. This has been cutting deeply into our available time, and as the issue became more pressing on a day-to-day basis, it got to a point where the options were to quit, restructure, or abandon the schedule entirely. Unwilling to abandon what we started, and after a few months of trying to maintain the structure we had in place, this is the route we have chosen to go, and we hope you'll stick around to see the results.

Looking forward to the future and all it holds,
Mike "Tsaikotyk" Kelly
